Valentine's Day Special on These Days

This hour, we go from romance to breaking up in many genres. Listen to San Diego-based musician Greg Laswell, film critic Scott Marks, and editor of the New York Times Modern Love column Daniel Jones

Valentine's Day Special on These Days

Tom Fudge: It's not unusual for songwriters to write about their own lives. And Greg Laswell's latest CD, called Through Toledo, is a break-up album. Many of the songs were inspired by the feelings he had after his wife left him.

Love and romance is a preoccupation for many art forms. Movies, like music, are often driven by stories of the thrills and disappointments of romance. Scott Marks is the Film Critic for the Gay and Lesbian Times. And he's a regular guest on our film club of the air. We go to him now with an essay about the good and the bad of romantic film dialogue.
