The state office of Homeland Security is asking Californians to be on alert. The warning comes in the wake of the attempted car bombings in London and after a flaming car crashed into a Scottish airport terminal.

Director Matthew Bettenhausen says people should be extra vigilant and report any suspicious activity. He also asks them to be patient with homeland security.

Bettenhausen : They're going to see additional security measures at airports, on mass transit, at maritime facilities, as well as at large gatherings as we go into the fourth of July weekend. We ask them to be patient with that and to be cooperative with authorities because we're doing that for everybody's protection.

Bettenhausen stresses that they have no information suggesting a current threat to California or the nation.
