San Diego Wildfires Update (8 a.m.)

The Harris Fire is 90,750 acres and 65% contained. The Witch Fire is 197,990 acres and 90% contained. The Rice Fire is 9,000 acres and 100% contained. The Poomacha Fire is 49,150 acres and 50% contain

The Harris Fire is 90,750 acres and 65% contained. Full containment is expected on October 31st and full control on November 4th.   There are 2,544 firefighters assigned. Cost to date $9.7 million.   There have been 32 injuries to firefighters, 21 civilians burned and 5 civilian fatalities.

The Witch Fire is 197,990 acres and 90% contained. Full containment is expected on October 30th and full control on November 3rd.   There are 2,807 firefighters assigned. Cost to date $11.3 million.  There have been 38 injuries to firefighters, 2 civilian fatalities. 1,040 homes, and 414 outbuildings destroyed. 70 homes, 25 outbuildings damaged. Destroyed vehicle figure note: Vehicles destroyed include cars, boats, travel trailers, and tractors. Total for this category is 852, with 8 vehicles being damaged.

The Rice Fire is 9,000 acres and 100% contained. Full containment was obtained on October 28th at 7 am., and full control on November 5th.   There are 850 firefighters assigned. Cost to date $4.9 million.  There have been 5 injuries to firefighters.

The Poomacha Fire is 49,150 acres and 50% contained. Full containment October 31st .   There are 2,123 firefighters assigned. There have been 18 injuries to firefighters. Cost to date $5.2 million. Continue to implement strategies to minimize the impacts to the Agua Tibia Wilderness. Indirect and direct line construction in the Wilderness area will be the emphasis today.
