New Navy Supply Ship Christened in San Diego
Monday, April 7, 2008
Tom Fudge: Last night a new Navy ship slid into the waters of San Diego Bay. The USNS Amelia Earhart was christened at the NASSCO shipyards by local Congresswoman Susan Davis, among others.
The Earhart is a 700ft. supply ship. Its job will be delivering food, ammunition, and other provisions to war ships at sea. It is, obviously, named for the great female aviator, Amelia Earhart.
