A prosecutor has decided to charge a California mother with escaping a Detroit-area prison 32 years ago.

If convicted, Susan Lefevre could face up to five more years in prison. She's already back in Michigan serving at least 5½ years for drug crimes after being caught 32 years after fleeing the prison.

The 53-year-old mother of three was arrested in April outside her home in an affluent area of San Diego.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said Monday it's admirable that LeFevre made something of her life, but she must accept responsibility for escaping prison.

The escape charge would be served after her sentence for selling heroin.

A message seeking comment was left with one of LeFevre's attorneys.
