A post office in the hometown of fallen Camp Pendleton Marine Lance Cpl. Victor A. Dew is being named this morning in his honor.

The House of Representatives unanimously approved a resolution to dedicate the Granite Bay Post Office in memory of Dew, according to a U.S. Post Office news release. Dew grew up in the Northern California town, and graduated from Granite Bay High School in 2008.

Dew, 20, was killed on October 13, 2010 in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. He died with three other Marines in his unit when his vehicle was destroyed by an improvised explosive device.

Dew was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton. Known as the "Darkhorse Battalion," the 3/5 suffered the highest casualty rate of any combat unit in the Afghanistan war.

Patty Schumacher, Dew's mother, told the Sacramento Bee the post office dedication was not just an honor for her son, but for all those who died in combat:

"We have always been proud of him. This is a tribute to our fallen heroes. It is a great honor."
