Thousands In San Diego Without Power Due To High Winds

Strong winds have knocked out power to thousands of households throughout San Diego County Tuesday morning, KPBS media partner 10News reports

According to San Diego Gas & Electric, as of 12:10 p.m., there were at least nine outages leaving 12,946 customers were without electricity. Nearly 6,100 of those were in the South Bay cities of San Ysidro, Otay Mesa and Nestor. Another 4,000 customers were affected in the Ramona area.

In the southeastern community of Dulzura, downed power lines were likely responsible for sparking three spot fires and knocking out electricity to more than 300 customers.

An SDG&E official said that of the nine, seven of the outages were weather-related.
