Broadway/San Diego Announces New Season Plus 'Hamilton' Dates

Broadway/San Diego announced its highly anticipated 2017-2018 season, which includes a four-week "Hamilton" run, along with some current Broadway hits and longtime classics.

"Hamilton" tickets are available for purchase to season ticket subscribers and go on sale to the general public about a month before the show.

"An American in Paris" Sept. 5-10, 2017

Directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon, this Tony Award-winning musical follows an American soldier and a mysterious French girl dealing with the aftermath of war. It features songs by George and Ira Gershwin and is also inspired by the 1950 film. (Rating: ages 8 and up)

Disney’s "The Little Mermaid" Sept. 19-24, 2017

The popular musical brings back Ariel, a mermaid who wants to leave her ocean home for a life in the world above. It has a collection of beloved songs including "Under the Sea," "Kiss the Girl," "Part of Your World" and many more. (Rating: all ages)

Rodgers + Hammerstein's "Cinderella" Nov. 24-26, 2017

The beloved fairy tales is transformed into a lush contemporary musical that includes the pumpkin, the glass slipper, the masked ball and all the other magic. It features songs "In My Own Little Corner" and "Ten Minutes Ago." (Rating: all ages)

"Motown the Musical" Dec. 26-31, 2017

The story of Motown founder Berry Gordy's journey from boxer to music mogul. It's a night filled with classic songs including "My Girl" and "Ain't No Mountain High Enough." (Rating: ages 10 and up)

"Hamilton" Jan. 3-28, 2018

The Broadway musical sensation tells the life of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, retold with a diverse cast and hip hop score. Written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, you'll hear songs like "My Shot" and "The Schuyler Sisters." Fun fact: "Hamilton" is still playing to sold-out audiences on Broadway. (Rating: ages 10 and up)

"Dirty Dancing" Feb. 9-11, 2018

This is a stage adaptation of the 1987 movie about a girl who spends her summer at a family resort and learns about love and a new kind of dancing. The show features all your favorite songs including "Hungry Eyes" and "(I've Had) The Time of My Life." (Rating: mature audiences)

"Stomp" March 2-4, 2018

This percussion extravaganza will be staged at The Balboa Theatre and features an eight-member troupe using unconventional items to fill the stage with rhythms and dancing. (Rating: all ages)

"Love Never Dies" March 27-April 1, 2018

Andrew Lloyd Webber's sequel to "The Phantom of the Opera" takes place 10 years after the Phantom's disappearance from the Paris Opera House. This show finds him in New York, but still longing for Christine. (Rating: ages 12 and up)

"Les Misérables" May 29-June 3, 2018

This celebrated musical just finished a popular run on Broadway and returns to San Diego with new staging and scenery inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo. Epic songs include "One Day More," I Dreamed A Dream," "On My Own," and many more. (Rating: ages 13 and up)

"School of Rock" June 12-17, 2018

Based on the popular movie, this rock musical is about a wannabe rock star who poses as a substitute teacher. He turns his class of high-achieving students into a successful rock band. The show, with new songs by Andrew Lloyd Webber, features child actors playing their own instruments live on stage. (Rating: ages 6 and up)

"The King and I" June 26-July 1, 2018

This musical won the 2015 Tony for Best Musical Revival. Set in 1860s Bangkok, it tells the story of the unconventional relationship between the King of Siam and the British schoolteacher he hired to teach his many wives and children. (Rating: ages 12 and up)

"On Your Feet!" July 31-Aug. 5, 2018

This feel-good musical is about Emilio and Gloria Estefan, two musicians who left Cuba to pursue a music career in the United States. It's filled with Latin-infused songs and memorable choreography. (Rating: all ages)

"The Phantom of the Opera" Aug. 23-Sept. 2, 2018

Andrew Lloyd Webber's romantic musical returns with new special effects and scenic design, including an impressive chandelier. It tells the story of a ghost that haunts the Paris Opera House. (Rating: ages 6 and up)
