Two young men and a teen will be arraigned in a San Diego courtroom tomorrow on attempted murder and hate crime charges. The trio is accused of attacking six gay men with baseball bats after a gay pride event in Balboa Park. One man is still in a local hospital with head injuries.
Police say James Carroll, Lyon Tatum and a 16 year old boy were all jailed yesterday. The arrests came a day after San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders publicly labeled the attackers cowards, urged witnesses to come forward and vowed that hate crimes "will not be tolerated" in the city.
Gay rights activists hailed the prompt arrests of the alleged perpetrators.
