Beckham Brings Game Face to U.S. Soccer

Tom Fudge: David Beckham, the British soccer star and celebrity, is coming to California. He’s signed a very big deal with the Los Angeles Galaxy, of Major League Soccer. The deal is said to be worth more than $250 million to Beckham over five years.

This appears to be the latest in several efforts by American soccer to generate excitement for the sport by signing a major star. Remember when Pele signed with the New York Cosmos back in the 1970s?
