Now where did that Decepticon go? Transformers (Dreamworks)
Remember this tag line: Transformers More than meets the eye! Well, Michael Bay brings the famous toys to the big screen as a live action Hollywood blockbuster. But in Bays hands Transformers (opening July 3 throughout San Diego) is not more than meets the eyewhat you see is exactly what you get and theres nothing below the surface.
Transformers were born in 1984. They were a Japanese line of transforming toys made by Takara and known in Japan as Diaclone and Microman that were re-branded in the U.S. by Hasbro as Transformers and promoted to kids through comic books, a cartoon series and an animated feature film (1986). The toys and cartoons (which include the 1990s variation, the CGI series Beast Wars ) won a devoted following of both kids and young men. So when Michael Bay decided to turn the successful franchise into a live action, FX-driven Hollywood summer blockbuster, Transformers fans went on high alert. When images of the new designs leaked, fans were supposedly outraged. But with the release of the film, fans seem to have been won over by Michael Bays big, noisy extravaganza.
