The search for San Diego's new superintendent is in full swing this month after weeks of community input on the matter. KPBS reporter Ana Tintocalis has more.
Superintendent Carl Cohn steps down at the end of this year. That's forced the school district to launch an ambitious timeline. The school board is expected to interview candidates by the end of this month.
But trustee Katherine Nakamura is not too sure if the perfect person will be in that pool of candidates. She says it's hard to recruit superintendents after the school year has begun.
Nakamura : I don't think any of us are ready or willing to settle for just anyone. I know my standards are going to be pretty tough. So whether or not we can actually pull this off, that remains to be seen.
Nakamura says she's willing to wait and begin another search. She says an interim superintendent may have to step in if that happens.
