San Diego City Propositions All Pass

Voters approved all three San Diego city propositions. Proposition A exempts the police from privatization. B puts the strong mayor form of government on the ballot, with a stronger mayoral veto, in 2010. Even Proposition C, including the disputed issue of how to appoint a truly independent auditor, passed easily with 63 percent of the vote.

Councilman Kevin Faulconer said he believes San Diego voters just want to see  reforms move ahead.

Faulconer : I think people looked at it and they said, "We want to continue the reforms," and  Proposition C is an essential element to getting San Diego back on track, because so much is at stake. It’s going to help us get a better bond rating and that’s going to benefit every San Diegan and every neighborhood.

Councilwoman Donna Frye, who opposed Prop C, says voters may have simply found the new appointment process difficult to understand, and voted “yes” because of the spirit of reform in the measure.
