This Saturday, Doctors in Tijuana will conduct a crime survey at the San Ysidro border crossing. Its part of a series of protests doctor have staged in the border city. KPBS Reporter Amy Isackson has details.
The President of Tijuana's Medical Association, Eric Rosenberg, says doctors will fan out in the lines of cars at the San Ysidro border crossing.
Rosenberg: There's a captive audience there.
Doctors will ask people about their perceptions of security in Tijuana.
Rosenberg: What people feel is lacking in the authorities handling of the crime problem and if they have any ideas to help solve them.
Rosenberg says they'll present the results of their survey to law enforcement officials in Tijuana. He says the number of doctors being kidnapped and extorsion calls has dropped recently.
Since April, Doctors have staged a series of protests and work stoppages to protest a wave of kidnappings in Tijuana, after a well known surgeon was nabbed in broad daylight.
