Representative Filner Not Happy with Bailout Plan

San Diego Democratic Congressman Bob Filner is on his fellow lawmakers to keep working until they craft emergency legislation for the economy that works from the bottom up - not the top down. Tanya Snyder reports from Washington.

Filner says the seven hundred billion dollar economic recovery package before Congress isn't a bailout - it's a swindle.

Filner: This is an economic Iraq. The Iraq war was said it was going to cost very little and now it's in the trillions. Same thing here. A blank check without any accountability is simply a bad way to do things.

When the bailout was first announced, it was greeted with bipartisan support, but that support is quickly dwindling. Filner says he'd like the Congress to drastically re-think the whole idea.

Filner: See, they want a trickle down thing. They think if they stabilize Goldman Sachs it'll trickle down to Main Street. I want to stabilize Main Street and let that percolate up to Goldman Sachs.

Filner says that despite increasing skepticism, Congress will likely vote on a package with more oversight and limits on executive pay.
