Cold and stormy weather is on its way to San Diego County this weekend.

The National Weather Service says the approaching winter storm could bring rain as early as Saturday morning... with a chance of more significant rain by Monday.

Forecasters say we can expect the storm to linger into Wednesday and possibly Thursday.

The mountains could get up to about a half-foot of snow.

The weather service also says there's a coastal flood advisory in effect until 11 a.m. Monday.

Astronomical high tides will be close to or higher than 7 feet at the San Diego Broadway Pier with similar tides elsewhere each morning through Monday.

The high tides may cause minor tidal overflow at low lying beach areas such as La Jolla, Del Mar and Cardiff.

The high tides are associated with the full moon cycle.
