San Diego city officials have failed to convince regulators to require a test ensuring gasoline is NOT recontaminating Qualcomm Stadium. The two sides met earlier this week. KPBS Reporter Amita Sharma has details.

City officials had asked that the California Water Resources Control Board compel Kinder Morgan Energy to conduct a tracer test on the Qualcomm property. The city wants the test to determine whether petroleum from beneath Kinder Morgan's Mission Valley Terminal is seeping past a containment system and re-polluting the ground and water under the parking lot.
But water board representatives says that's not true and therefore a tracer test is unwarranted. City officials also asked for a contingency plan in case Kinder Morgan doesn't meet deadlines to clean up the soil and water beneath Qualcomm.
Talks on that issue are unresolved. The city hopes to pump up to 3 million gallons of drinking water a day from an aquifer under the stadium once the site is cleaned up.
