The average price of a gallon of gas is up almost three cents a gallon since Monday. An analyst in San Diego says the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is not to blame.
Drivers are paying just over $3.08 a gallon for regular gas. The Utility Consumers' Action Network tracks prices at hundreds of local gas stations. UCAN's Charles Langley says the price of gas has peaked in June the past three years. He says local prices have not been affected by the oil spill in the Gulf.
"If we have to shut down all other deep water wells because of the danger of a spill, that might affect supply and push prices up," said Langley.
Langley says the price of fuel should hover around the $3.10 a gallon mark into next month. He says he doesn't expect the price to rise above $3.20 before the price begins a seasonal decline at the end of the summer.
