Chapter Synopsis
The duo continues driving into Kansas. At this point in their journey the old mini-van is starting to give out and the engine is not sounding good. They stop at a gas station for Nayeli to get some tampons and decide to go see the 6,000 pound prairie dog, even though the clerk at the gas station tells them it is made of cement and fake. They spend the night in Topeka. They pass through Kansas City and onto Saint Louis, starting to feel weak, and scared. They are even more foreign in this part of the United States, away from anything and anyone they know. They stop at the arch in Missouri. Tacho drinks from a drinking fountain and immediately feels sick, telling Nayeli not to drink the water. They stop in Vandalia, Illinois on the final night of their journey before arriving at their destination and Tacho throws up by midnight.
