SD Winds

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Strong winds were expected to buffet the valleys and mountains of San Diego County today.

The National Weather Service scheduled a wind advisory for valley and mountain areas from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., saying sustained winds of 15 to 25 miles per hour were gusting up to 45 mph.

A wind advisory means winds strong enough to make driving difficult, especially for motorists in high profile vehicles, are occurring or are expected.

The weather service said the areas most affected included the Interstate 8 corridor through the mountains, and the cities of Campo, Descanso, Julian and Warner Springs.

The winds will diminish this afternoon, according to an NWS advisory.
