The California Highway Patrol advised motorists Monday to avoid the area of Miramar Way and Interstate 15 until further notice due to lane closures forced by a weekend water-main break.
The infrastructure failure on the outskirts of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar left the base's eastern gate out of commission pending repairs and led to heavy rush-hour congestion Monday morning, the state agency reported.
The conditions could persist for up to a week, according to CHP public affairs Officer Robert Catano.
The pipeline rupture occurred Saturday morning, Catano said.
