San Diego Padres television voice and longtime San Diego County resident Dick Enberg will receive the Radio & Television News Association's Broadcast Legend Award at a gala dinner in Universal City on Jan. 25.
The 79-year-old Enberg -- known for his signature phrase "Oh, my!" when something exciting happens at a sports event he's calling -- is being honored at the 64th annual Golden Mike Awards for his nearly five decades in broadcasting.
After breaking into the business in 1965, he began calling games for the then-California Angels, then-Los Angeles Rams and UCLA. He later moved on to network sports coverage, where he called the Wimbledon Tennis Championships for two decades, along with the Olympics, NFL football and college basketball.
He's been the voice of the San Diego Padres on Channel 4 San Diego and now Fox Sports San Diego since 2010.
Enberg has won 14 Emmy awards during his career, including one for lifetime achievement. He has also been honored by the NFL, NBA and Rose Bowl halls of fame -- and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
