IRVINE, Calif. — The owner of the Riverside Press-Enterprise and the Orange County Register is publishing a new Spanish-language newspaper in Southern California.
Freedom Communications launched Unidos en el Sur de California on Friday.
The newspaper is a combination of Excelsior, a 21-year-old publication published by the Register, and La Prensa, which The Press-Enterprise previously published. The Register bought The Press-Enterprise in November.
The Press-Enterprise says the newspaper will be distributed in Orange County, inland Southern California, the Coachella Valley and Los Angeles.
Irvine-based Freedom also owns the Long Beach Register. The company plans to launch the new Los Angeles Register on April 16.
