The Sweetwater Education Association announced via Twitter Thursday night that it reached a deal with the district on a contract, ending six months of talks. The two sides had been negotiating since October. Last month, 92 percent of the union's teachers voted in favor of a strike.
Details of the agreement were not immediately released. The major sticking points in the talks had been salary, health care and class sizes.
