The team representing the Sweetwater Valley Little League is scheduled to play Thursday for a berth in the U.S. Championship Game of the Little League World Series against the only team it has lost to.
The Bonita-based Sweetwater Valley all-stars will face their counterparts from the Pearland West Little League of Pearland, Texas, who defeated Sweetwater Valley, 8-4, on Sunday.
Sweetwater Valley, the West Region champion, had won its first 17 games in five tournaments before the loss. It has won both its games since then, avoiding elimination both times.
A watch party of the ESPN telecast of the 5 p.m. (PDT) game from South Williamsport, Pennsylvania, will be held at La Finca d'Adobe, 5202 Bonita Road, in Bonita.
Thursday's winner will face the team representing the Red Land Little League of Lewisberry, Pennsylvania, in Saturday's U.S. Championship Game. The loser will be eliminated.
Red Land, the Mid-Atlantic Region champion, earned the berth in the U.S. Championship Game by defeating Pearland West, the Southwest Region champion, 3-0, Wednesday.
Saturday's winner will face the International champion for the Little League World Series championship on Sunday. The remaining contenders for the International championship, which will also be determined Saturday, are teams from Japan, Mexico and Venezuela.
