A series of power outages left about 9,000 homes and businesses without electrical service Thursday, according to SDG&E.

Service was restored to the majority of customers by 12:22 p.m., SDG&E said on Twitter. The company said 1,625 customers remained without power, but expected to have it fully restored by 1 p.m.
The blackouts happened over a roughly hourlong period, beginning shortly before 9:30 a.m., according to San Diego Gas & Electric.
The affected locations included City Heights, Chollas Creek, the College area, Hillcrest, Kensington, Mission Hills, Normal Heights, North Park, Old Town, Talmadge and University Heights.
The cause of the problems was not immediately clear.
The San Diego LGBT Community Center in Hillcrest closed due to the outage, the organization said on Facebook.
