Poor Cardiff Kook. The statue of a surfer on Coast Hwy 101 in Cardiff-by-the-Sea has suffered many indignities over the years and now...a severed ear. In celebration of Vincent Van Gogh's birthday, the Kook has been decked out as the painter, complete with a bandaged ear and a bottle of absinthe on hand to ease the pain.
The Kook holds a palatte in one hand and a paint brush in the other. An easel was welded to the front of the surfboard and on it is a post-impressionistic painting of the view at hand.
