A Maker Faire will come to San Diego's Balboa Park this fall.
Mayor Kevin Faulconer and Councilman Todd Gloria announced Monday that the park will host a festival of inventions Oct. 3 to Oct. 4.
Organizers of the fair describe it as a gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, hobbyists, artists and authors.
"This is not about commercial makers," said organizer Travis Good. "This is about the spirit of making and sharing your ideas. Every maker who comes gets a free booth so we encourage everybody who has something special and wants to share to apply."
The fair, which is a part of the park's centennial celebration of the 1915 Panama-California Exposition, will partner with the nonprofit Tijuana Innovadora to showcase creators and innovators.
Tickets for the fair go on sale on Monday. Admission is $10 for children and $15 for adults.
