The head of the California Chamber of Commerce said Governor Jerry Brown's proposed balanced budget for the fiscal year is good news for the state's businesses.
Chamber President and CEO Allan Zaremberg said while there are still many unmet needs in the state, a balanced budget and a potential surplus in the coming years is a positive signal for businesses.
"If we have a balanced budget, we can live within our means, create the certainty that the governor and the administration is not out there looking for additional tax revenues, that means that we have a climate that we can move forward and attract business," commented Zaremberg.
Businesses received a budget overview from California Finance Director Ana Matosantos during a CalChamber luncheon.
Zaremberg was pleased to see increased funding for education in Governor Jerry Brown's budget. He said it's important that California have a strong educated work force in order to attract businesses to the state and create jobs.
