The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County decreased today for the 29th consecutive day, falling four-tenths of a cent to $4.068, its lowest amount since Feb. 7.

The average price has dropped 22.6 cents over the past 29 days and is 4.3 cents less than one week ago, 22.3 cents lower than last month and 27.4 cents below what it was one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price had risen 28 of the 30 days preceding the streak of decreases, increasing 56.7 cents over that span.

The prices have been dropping because most California refineries have concluded scheduled maintenance without experiencing any major incidents before the switch to summer blend production, resulting in adequate gasoline supplies, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
