Voters soundly rejected Measure C, the proposal to raise funds for a new Chargers stadium, earlier this month. And after an injury-plagued season, the Chargers have a 4-6 record.
But if fans are looking for some silver linings, here are some:
Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers is now eighth, all time, in NFL career passing touchdowns.
Antonio Gates is two touchdowns away from tying the league’s all-time record for scores by a tight end. With five touchdowns already, the veteran could break the record this season.
Longtime Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson was named a semi-finalist for the 2017 Pro Football Hall of Fame.
In college ball, San Diego State running back Donnel Pumphrey is running for the record books. Last weekend the senior moved to third, all time, for rushing in the NCAA. Pumphrey is one of three in contention for the Doak Walker Award for the nation’s top running back. He could be a finalist for the Heisman Trophy.
The Aztecs have already secured their seventh consecutive bowl game. They’ll also be playing for the Mountain West conference championship in December.
