A small earthquake struck a sparsely populated section of San Diego County, but no damage or injuries has been reported.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude-3.9 quake struck shortly before 11 a.m. Thursday and was centered 4 miles west of the community of Borrego Springs. It occurred at a depth of nearly 1½ miles.
The San Diego County Sheriff's Department said it has not received any calls about the quake.
Several tiny aftershocks have followed.
