Strong gusty winds and low humidity will pose an increased risk of wildfire in the mountains of San Diego County on Wednesday, forecasters said.
The National Weather Service declared a fire weather watch from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
East winds of 10 to 20 mph, with gusts of 35 mph, were likely for most mountain areas, the Weather Service warned.
Gusts could reach 45 mph along the Interstate 8 Corridor, according to the agency.
Elsewhere, a high wind warning -- denoting a forecast of sustained wind speeds of 40 miles per hour, with gusts of 58 mph or greater -- will be in effect from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Santa Ana Mountains, which jut into northern San Diego County.
