Wet and windy weather is expected to strike San Diego County late today.
According to the National Weather Service, a Pacific weather system will move into the region tonight and Saturday, bringing around a quarter to a third of an inch of rain to the coast and around an inch to west and southwest mountain slopes.
The precipitation will be mostly light but "rather long in duration and will result in some slippery driving conditions,'' the agency advised.
Local wind gusts of up to 70 miles per hour are possible in mountains and desert areas on Saturday.
The Weather Service issued a high wind watch for the mountains and deserts from late tonight through Saturday evening. It indicates an expectation of sustained winds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or stronger.
"Another system will bring a chance of precipitation and more gusty winds Monday or Monday night, but less rainfall is expected than the system for tonight and Saturday,'' according to the Weather Service.
