Elevated Surf, Strong Rip Currents Expected At San Diego Beaches

A westerly swell will bring elevated surf and strong rip currents to San Diego beaches Friday and Saturday, meteorologists said.

The National Weather Service issued a beach hazards statement for local beaches from 6 a.m. Friday through Saturday afternoon, saying 3- to 5-foot surf with occasional sets to 7 feet was likely.

The highest surf will be south of La Jolla, the agency said.
