A post-summer heat wave sweeping San Diego County is expected to send temperatures soaring again Friday and throughout the weekend.
National Weather Service forecasters said a heat-amplifying high-pressure system would push temperatures to 7 to 15 degrees above seasonal averages Friday.
"High pressure over the Southwest will bring very warm weather through this weekend," according to the weather service.
Mostly sunny skies are forecast Friday along with highs of 81 to 86 degrees for the coast, 87 to 92 degrees in inland areas, 89 to 94 in the western valleys, 93 to 98 degrees near the foothills, 89 to 96 in the mountains and 102 to 107 degrees in the deserts.
No high heat advisories have been issued. Slightly cooler temperatures are expected Saturday, forecasters said.
"Temps will lower by a couple degrees Saturday as the upper ridge weakens slightly," according to the weather service.
For Saturday, forecasters predicted highs of 79 to 84 degrees at the beaches, 85 to 90 degrees inland, 87 to 92 in the western valleys, 91 to 96 degrees near the foothills, 87 to 95 in the mountains and 99 to 104 degrees in the deserts.
A slow cooling trend is expected to begin next week, as a weak low- pressure system builds over the region, forecasters said.
