A storm that brought flooding on roadways throughout San Diego County on Thursday and Wednesday is expected to weaken Friday, but rain showers and snow could continue until late Friday night.
A winter storm warning will be in effect until 10 p.m. tonight in the county mountains, where four to eight inches of snow is expected to fall above 3,000 feet and 10 to 14 inches could fall near the highest peaks, according to the National Weather Service.
Rain showers will continue Friday morning, then start decreasing Friday evening before the storm leaves the region Friday night or early Saturday.
Around a quarter-inch of rain is expected in coastal areas, up to six-tenths of an inch is forecast for the western valleys, up to an inch of rain could fall in the mountains and less than one-tenth of an inch will fall in the deserts, according to the NWS.
Wind gusts could reach 55 mph in the mountains and 40 mph in the deserts, but winds are expected to be less than 30 mph in the western valleys and less than 25 mph in the deserts.
A beach hazards statement warning of waves between four to seven feet will be in effect until this afternoon.
High temperatures today could reach 56 degrees near the coast and inland, 54 in the western valleys, 48 near the foothills, 42 in the mountains and 59 in the deserts.
As of 4:30 Friday morning, San Onofre had received the most rainfall over the past two days, at 3.29 inches, followed by 2.64 in Oceanside, 2.61 in Pine Hills, 2.53 in Encinitas, 2.41 at Henshaw Dam, 2.3 in Carlsbad, 2.28 in Descanso, 2.23 in Valley Center, 2.22 in Escondido, 2.18 in Bonsall, 2.1 in Alpine, 2.04 at Brown Field Airport, 2 in San Marcos, 1.97 in Fallbrook, 1.95 in Poway, 1.94 in La Mesa, 1.85 in San Ysidro and 1.73 in Ramona.
Other noteworthy rainfall totals included 1.83 at Fashion Valley in San Diego, 1.75 in Kearny Mesa, 1.65 at the Lindbergh Field Airport, 1.62 in Miramar, 1.47 in Point Loma, 1.4 in Julian, 1.33 at Montgomery Field Airport, 0.63 in San Felipe, 0.6 in Agua Caliente, 0.44 in Ocotillo Wells, 0.27 in Borrego Springs and 0.14 in Santee.
As of 3 p.m. Thursday, Julian had received an inch-and-a-half of snow.
