Ex-Baathists Renounce Party Ties

At a ceremony in Mosul, hundreds of Iraqis renounce their membership in the Baath Party -- a key move for gaining employment with the new Iraqi government. U.S. military commanders, who organized the ceremony, see it as a first step toward reconciliation. But former Baathists remain outcasts, and their ultimate fate lies in the hands of the Iraqi governing council. Hear NPR's Anne Garrels.
