Situation in Iraq Dominates the Week Ahead

This coming week, the Bush administration and the U.S. Congress will be focusing on Iraq and the changing policy of the United States: President Bush will meet with a prominent Shiite politician on Monday; the Senate Armed Services committee will hold hearings on the confirmation of Robert Gates as Secretary of Defense. And Wednesday, the Iraq Study Group will make its report to Capitol Hill.

In the run-up to this big week, the subject on a lot of minds in Washington, D.C., was a leaked memo written by Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.

NPR's Political Editor Ron Elving discusses the week ahead with Debbie Elliott.
