The San Diego Unified School District is nearing the end of its search for a new superintendent following the appointment of it former superintendent, Cindy Marten, to be the deputy secretary of education in the Biden Administration last year.

The two finalists are Lamont Jackson, who is currently the interim superintendent at the district, and Susan Enfield, who is the superintendent of Highline Public Schools in Washington state.

Enfield, a California native, previously worked as interim superintendent of Seattle public schools. She was named superintendent of the year in 2021 by The Washington Association of School Administrators.

Enfield joined Midday Edition on Monday with more on her plans for the district should she become superintendent at San Diego Unified.
