KPBS has launched “Only Here,” a new podcast about culture and creativity at the border.
Host Alan Lilienthal and producer Kinsee Morlan tell stories you can only find in a border town.
The first episode introduces listeners to Beto Soto, a painter and photographer who's gay and undocumented, and made a photographic series about the experience. The second episode focuses on the San Diego Symphony, which commissioned a song about immigration and performed a cross-border piece at the place where the border fence runs into the ocean. Episode three drops in on a Day of the Dead celebration and hears from people who celebrate the holiday as a way of keeping their culture and traditions alive.
Lilienthal joins Midday Edition Wednesday to discuss the show and his own cross-border background.
