Punk music is both John Brady's passion and escape.
He's a musician and a photographer in San Diego. And for the last few years, he’s been documenting the punk scene in Tijuana.
Not a lot of San Diegans dive so deeply into subcultures in Tijuana the way Brady has. But the way he grew up — the difficult things he experienced at a young age — made him more independent and willing to explore things most others won’t.
In the latest episode of "Only Here," a KPBS podcast about the place where San Diego and Tijuana meet, we follow Brady to a bar in Tijuana and he explains how he found his inspiration in the dark, crowded punk venues of TJ.
