San Diego Filmmaker Interviews Former White Supremacists For New Documentary

At a time when we are watching our nation become painfully divided and bitter culture wars ramping up to threats of violence, a new film by a San Diego filmmaker is like a lighthouse in a darkening storm.

In "Love Wins Over Hate," reformed white supremacists talk about their transformations to becoming people who promote empathy and inclusivity.

“Love Wins Over Hate" airs Monday 10 p.m. on KPBS television. It will also air on KPBS2 on Oct. 30 at 4 p.m. and 9 p.m.; Oct. 31 at 5 a.m. and 11 a.m.; Nov. 3 at 2 a.m., 8 a.m. and 7 p.m.; and Nov. 4 at 12 a.m. It is also available online.

The film's director and producer, Susan Polis Schutz, joined Midday Edition on Monday to discuss the film.
