Rad Scientist Podcast: Salk Scientist Studies Schizophrenia
Austin Coley was told he was not “Ph.D. worthy” while getting his masters. That didn’t stop him from getting his doctorate and continuing to research a mental illness that affected his uncle.
Coley studies what happens to brain cells that can cause symptoms associated with schizophrenia. He recently moved to San Diego to begin a postdoctoral fellowship at the Salk Institute. His project was just going through approvals when COVID-19 forced him to stay at home for multiple months.
Listen to his story on the latest episode of KPBS Explore podcast "Rad Scientist," where the scientist becomes the subject.
