With hundreds of thousands of active-duty U.S. military service members deployed overseas at any given time, more and more military wives are delivering their babies while their spouses are gone. But technology is bringing many of these separated families a little closer.

From the Crystal Coast Family magazine comes the touching story of Eric Rodriguez and his wife Amy, who were expecting the addition of a second child, a little girl. But before the birth date, Eric was deployed to Djibouti, Africa with his squadron, VMM-162 (REIN), and the 24th MEU. However, Eric didn't miss his daughter's birth. Amy and the hospital staff were able to Skype with Eric so that he could see his daughter being brought into the world. Olivia Rose Rodriguez weighed eight pounds, twelve ounces, and was 21.5 inches long.
