A Marine's Canine Partner Finds a New Home

You might have missed this heart-tugger tucked into the bottom of yesterday's roundup: the parents of Colton Rusk, a young Marine killed in Afghanistan, have adopted his bomb-sniffing dog, Eli.

Randy Roughton's story about Rusk and Elipaints a picture of a pair that - as you might imagine - were quite close. When Rusk was told to leave Eli out of the chow hall, his father said, he chose to eat his meals outside with the dog.After he was killed by Taliban sniper fire, Marine officials told Rusk's parents that Eli "crawled on top of their son to protect him after he was shot."
