New Point Loma Child Care Center Named for Navy Hero

The Navy has named its newest Child Development Center after Iraq War hero Chief Explosive Ordinance Disposal Patrick L. Wade. Colleagues of Wade say it's only fitting that a center devoted to children should bear his name. According to Rear Adm. Frank Morneau:

"He was most proud of what he was as a father and a husband. When you talk to his teammates, you would hear about all the times he talked about getting a chance to talk to his girls and how proud he was of them, and him sharing his life's experience."

The Navy held the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Patrick Wade Child Development Center earlier this week. The center is one of six new child care centers specifically created for children of active-duty military. All six centers focus on the care of little ones aged 6 weeks to 5-years-old.

Families can get on the wait list for one of the six centers as soon as they find out they are pregnant. Click here for more information on one of the Navy's new Child Development Centers.
