Military Ball Invite Consolation Prize for Hope Solo? (Video)

The U.S. Women's soccer team has to be smarting right about now, after their heartbreaking loss to Japan in the World Cup finals. But they've no doubt gained legions of fans, including scores of military families stationed in Germany.

The Stars and Stripes reports servicemembers and their loved ones packed JR Rockers Sports Café at Ramstein Air Base to cheer on their countrywomen. Amanda Cook and husband Staff Sgt. Jayson Cook (of the 86th Aircraft Maintenance squadron) watched the game together at JR Rockers. Despite the U.S. team's stellar effort, their loss "devastated" Amanda.

With all this devastation, is there a bright side to this story? Well, U.S. Army Capt. Nassar Jabour "hopes" so. He's hopped on the Sgt. Scott Moore and Cpl. Kelsey De Santis bandwagon, and has taken to YouTube to ask U.S. Women's soccer team goalie Hope Solo to the Austrian Officer's Ball in Vienna in January. Jabour is in the 54th Engineer Battalion deployed to Forward Operation Base Shank in Afghanistan (according to his YouTube page). Will Hope give this soldier hope? Take a look, and you tell me. This guy is hilarious!
