It all started back in July when Marine Sgt. Scott Moore made a short video while deployed in at Musa Qala, Afghanistan in the very dangerous Helmand province. Moore hung his heart on his sleeve and asked actress Mila Kunis to be his date to his Marine Corps Ball.
Cpl. Kelsey De Santis took it from there. Inspired by Moore, she took toYouTube to ask Justin Timberlake to accompany her to the Marine Corps Ball in Richmond, Virginia. Timberlake agreed to go, after urging Kunis, his 'Friends with Benefits' costar, to accompany Sgt. Scott Moore to his Ball.
Since then, numerous Marines asked celebrities of all types to attend their balls with them, from Betty White to Michelle Obama. The celebrities who've agreed to go have come away with a newfound respect for the military. Timberlake said on his website after his evening with Cpl. De Santis:
