A motorcyclist killed in a San Diego County highway crash over the weekend has been identified as an Osprey pilot based at MCAS Miramar. Captain Russell G. Hill, 32, was assigned to Miramar's Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 165, according to the Marine Corps Times.
The California Highway Patrol reports Hill crashed his 2007 Ducati motorcycle on westbound highway 76 after taking a corner roughly 15 miles per hour over the speed limit. According to San Diego 6 News:
Hill was a native of Ocala, Florida. He had been deployed twice to Afghanistan, in 2008 and 2010.
